The Signs of Food Intolerance

Human beings are introduced to a variety of foods throughout their lifetime, some they like and some may end up turning their stomach. For the most part, the food we eat is intended to provide us with the nourishment that we need, and if we follow the right guidelines, we will achieve the intended results. The problem arises when our bodies begin to respond negatively to certain foods, whether it is an allergic reaction or an intolerance, will usually have to be determined.

Like any sickness, there are signs that our body will give us that we may have a problem and when enough of those signs are present, the next stage will be food intolerance testing. You may be inclined to miss some of these signs, in fact; it is not uncommon to confuse a sign with some other sickness or disease. For instance, when the body is constipated or the exact opposite reaction like a diarrhea is evident, it is possible that food intolerance is the cause.

The patient may find themselves experiencing mood swings, or have bouts of unexplained tiredness. As your body works at fighting off unwanted viruses, it is diverting its energy to the immune system, rather than focusing on where it needs to be, which should be your muscles and the result is fatigue. When there is no explanation for those mood swings, the patient could end up becoming depressed because of it. One particular kind of food intolerance is Gluten, and the results can be long lasting if it is not dealt with.

Because of the symptoms being generic in nature, the only way that a patient will know if they have a problem is to embark on food intolerance testing. For some people, the idea of taking this course of action may seem extreme; however, with symptoms like migraines, unexplained increase in weight and chest pain caused by acid reflux; it will be worth it. An intolerance to food should not be considered as an allergy, it should be looked at as a chemical reaction instead.
